Honoring her recent career and retirement from VT, Dr. Amy Tillerson-Brown (Mary Baldwin College for Women) hosted Nikki Giovanni for a night at a "Renaissance Rent Party." A former student of Giovanni, Amy invited me as well to engage an intergenerational dialogue because as she said, "you do Nikki."
We played rounds of bid whist, ate fried chicken, talked about Nikki-Rosa, A Different World, and as you'll hear in the video, I asked her a few questions from the #BFAR Storytelling Deck such as what's your superpower? and what makes you feel rich?

This artist and community kickback was just one night of the MAK BLAGIC Experience (by Sankofa Waters) which took place at The Connect Gallery in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago. Folx had the opportunity to engage with different mediums of art and participate in a #BlackFolxAreRich dialogue that centered the power of grief, joy, and building legacy. And yea, we played a couple of rounds with the #BFAR deck, of course!
